Kathy Myers Reece

Kathy grew up in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains where she began studying art with her aunt when she was in the sixth grade. Kathy graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. While there, she was fortunate to study with Claude Howell. Later she worked with Joe Cox in Oriental, North Carolina as part of his summer workshops. Kathy specializes in oils with a focus on landscape and architecture. She prefers to paint "en plein air" when weather permits and from her studios in Raleigh or Valle Crucis at other times. Whether sitting alongside the Watauga River or perched high on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Kathy can convery a singular impression in nature using radiant colors and heavy brushwork. Her paintings are in collections in North Carolina, Maine, Texas, New York, New Jersey, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennesee, England and Puerto Rico.
